- Interviewer: Was it a reaction to how you grew up, living in a squat and going to noise and punk shows?
- Alice: Yeah. I grew up going to punk shows every night, and a lot of the local guys were really sexist, misogynist dickheads, so I really got off - it was brutal. All their songs were about how woman are whores, and it was really not a good place to be a girl. It was really obvious to me that I should start a band and piss them off and play for as long as we could with all their angry faces staring at me. Ethan was at one of the shows, we bounded from that - we had that in common.
- Interviewer: It's not hard to understand why you'd end up screaming into a microphone after that.
- Alice: I hate everything they represent. I hate homophobic, racist, misogynist dickweeds. Freedom of speech sure... but their speech is fucking wrong.
